Welcome to MesoRealm, a companion app for tabletop roleplaying groups. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Lauren Hodges ("MesoRealm," "we," "us," or "I"), the individual who operates MesoRealm. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use MesoRealm.

These Terms are written in plain language on purpose.

1. MesoRealm is in Alpha

MesoRealm is currently in a free, invite-only alpha. That means:

• The app is a work in progress. Features may change, break, or be removed.
• Data may occasionally be lost, reset, or become temporarily unavailable.
• We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time, without notice.

Please don't rely on MesoRealm as the only place you store anything important. We provide the app on an "as-is" basis during the alpha (see Section 9).

2. Who can use MesoRealm

You must be at least 13 years old to use MesoRealm. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under your account.

3. Your account

You access MesoRealm by creating an account (with an email and password, or through Google sign-in) and, during the alpha, an invitation. You agree not to share your account with others or let anyone else use it in a way that violates these Terms.

4. Payment and paid plans

MesoRealm is free during the alpha. We plan to offer paid subscription plans in the future. If and when paid plans launch, we will present the applicable pricing and payment terms before you subscribe, and those terms will become part of this agreement for paid users. Nothing in these Terms obligates you to pay anything during the free alpha.

5. Content you create

MesoRealm lets you create content: characters, letters, crafted items, campaign details, uploaded images, and more ("Your Content").

You keep ownership of Your Content. You grant us a limited license to store, display, and process Your Content solely so we can operate the app for you and the other members of your campaigns. This license exists only to make the app work; we don't claim ownership of what you create.

You're responsible for what you upload. You confirm that you have the right to use and share any content you put into MesoRealm (for example, that an image you upload doesn't infringe someone else's rights), and that Your Content doesn't violate these Terms or any law.

6. Acceptable use

MesoRealm includes features that let you communicate with other players (including in-character letters). To keep the app safe and usable, you agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, abuse, or harm other users
• Post or send content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or that violates others' rights
• Impersonate another person in a harmful or deceptive way
• Attempt to break, disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the app or other users' accounts or data
• Use the app to distribute spam, malware, or other harmful material
• Use the app for any unlawful purpose

Roleplay and in-character storytelling are welcome; the rules above are about real-world harm, not fictional conflict within a game.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We want MesoRealm to be a good place to play. To that end, we may, at our discretion:

• Remove or restrict content that violates these Terms
• Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that abuse the service or other users
• Take action to protect the app, its users, and its operation

Where practical, we'll aim to be reasonable and fair, but we don't guarantee notice before taking action when the situation warrants it. If you believe an action was taken in error, you can contact us.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using MesoRealm at any time and may request deletion of your account as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end your access to the app, in whole or in part, for the reasons described in these Terms, or if we discontinue the app.

9. Disclaimers ("as-is")

MesoRealm is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any data will be preserved, especially during the alpha. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, MesoRealm and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages,or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app. Because MesoRealm is provided free of charge during the alpha, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you have paid us, which during the alpha is zero.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Changes to these Terms

MesoRealm is in active development, and these Terms may change as the app grows (for example, when paid plans launch). When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use MesoRealm after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alabama, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the app will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Alabama, and you agree to that jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by law.
